How to Enter the Book Blind Date
To join, follow these easy steps:
- Choose your preferred book blind date from the contest post. See photos above.
- Go to the comments section at the bottom of this post. In the comments box, write the following:
- The code for your chosen book blind date. One book code per comment.
- Tell us why you’re the perfect date for this book.
- Enter your Name and Email in the appropriate fields. On the Website field, put a link to your social media.
- Hit Submit.
- Take note of your submission time and date.
- Go to gullybooks.com/bbd and complete the form.
Selection and Notification of Winners
- Gully Books has the sole authority to choose winners based on contest rules and criteria.
- We will assign the final book blind dates on August 29th, 2021.
- Chosen winners will be notified via SMS and email on August 29th, 2021. Keep your communication lines open. If we contact you, please keep it a secret.
- The blind date winners will be announced on our website and social media on September 11th, Gully Books’ anniversary.
Contest Rules
- The Book Blind Date is open to ALL AGES. (Available in the Philippines only) We’ll make sure your book blind date is age-appropriate.
- Each book has a specific code. There are hints to help you choose your date. Hints follow the “Two Truths and a Lie” concept.
- Follow the instructions on how to enter (above) and fill out the registration form.
- Your answers on the form have corresponding points. Read each question carefully. You will be asked to agree/disagree with each statement.
- We will accept submissions only until August 28th, 2021, at 11:59 pm.
- Winners will be determined through the following criteria:
- Your answer to “Why you are the perfect date” – Be creative!
- Points you receive on the form – Higher points mean greater chances!
- You will receive a notification on August 29th, 2021, if you are chosen as a winner. It is important to reply and acknowledge the message (email or SMS) immediately.
- Gully Books has complete discretion to choose winners or disqualify submissions.
- We prefer that winners pay the shipping fee. Although optional, it corresponds to 5 points on the form. Remember, higher points get better chances. This is a blind date – pay the shipping fee at your own risk.
- Check with GogoXpress for rates and serviceable areas. All books will be shipped in a small pouch. For areas not serviceable by GogoXpress, the winner will arrange shipping.
- Books will be shipped out by August 30th, 2021.
- Handling of prizes is the responsibility of the courier. Any damage to the books during shipping is not Gully Books’ fault.
- Winners must inform us immediately once their book arrives and follow through with the agreed terms on the form (sending a photo, reaction, etc.)
- Gully Books will publish winners’ names and photos on September 11th, 2021.
- Winners are final. This book giveaway is purely for fun! Outcomes are not meant to be taken seriously.

I like to read something about history. I am fascinated about the East Asian culture:Japanese,Chinese and Korean. Since I love history stuff and I considered myself as history buff I definitely need to read this book because I want to understand furthermore about the Japanese culture. If we think about Japan what comes out into our mind is about their rich culture and society. I can say Japanese culture is unique and we should imitate the Japanese on how they make themselves successful in their life. I also believe that Japanese is our role model
I would like to choose ‘GB-05’ book/s for a blind date because I’ve been waiting of it for so long, I’m so excited to touch it’s pages and I’m ready to go for a wondrous and magnificent adventure. I’m very fond of this kind of genre and have it with photos is just so awesome and worth to be my blind date. I’m actually a person who loves traveling, unravels mysteries, wants to be enthralled with tragic and magical stories and thinks beyond my imaginations that is why we are match for a date. I hope we meet each other soon. 🙂

Hi, I think GB-09 is for me. Actually, I don’t have any books here. I only have books related to my class, but when I saw this opportunity, I was intrigued. As a college student, I know that books will be useful during this pandemic. A stress reliever, a chance to rest, a chance to learn more, to discover new things, and an inspiration to continue. I also own a cat. I love coffee, and I believe that books are the missing piece to complete my everyday. Maybe for some, I’m not fit or worth having books, but I promise you that if I’m the lucky one, I’ll treasure them forever. It would also be helpful for me to avoid using gadgets for a long period of time and spend my free time reading a book. I am also planning to buy some books. However, due to the current situation, I tend to buy only what is truly necessary, especially since l have class right now. So, hi GB-09. I hope we will meet each other.
I would like to read GB-14 because I want to try something new other than children’s novels. I still haven’t explored much in the teens genre, but I know that this book will have something good to offer. I’m not really picky when it comes to stories. I would read just about anything, from short stories in textbooks to instructions found in soup cans. And when I find a favorite, I will definitely read it again and again even if the spine was already fraying at its edges. The idea of getting an unknown book is exciting and made me realize that we really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover (and synopsis). I don’t want to pass this opportunity either because GB-14 and I share the same passion with bulanglang. We will definitely be the first match to enjoy a bowl of bulanglang together, just you wait.

GB-12 is just the right fit for me. I especially love books that will make me bawl my eyes out. I think books that can make me cry are worth reading because it means the book envoked and touched something within me. I always learn something new about the experience that it brings me. I also just really love to cry because it helps me to release all my emotions. As I was once battling for the recovery of my mental health, reading tearjerker books helped me cry and let go of all my bottled up feelings. The story, lesson, feelings, and experience from the books helped me so much as well. If the book is guaranteed to make me cry then I’m sure it is a good book.
Even if the statement ‘my book is a tearjerker’ is a lie, that leaves me the ‘I am in one of the highest-grossing films’. I have read many books with movie adaptations and I have one thing to say… the book will always be better than the movie. The movie always cut some parts and leave out some details that makes me feel somewhat disappointed. Scenes that I am looking forward to that is also very vital to the story are often left out. The way things are described and worded in books are the best things that the movies don’t have. If the move is in one of the highest-grosing films then the book must be worthwhile.

I believe I am the perfect date for this book, since I believe I still have a lot to learn with the ways of becoming a parent and empathizing with my parents as well. With this, I may somehow grasp their thoughts and ways in disciplining and loving us. In addition, life values and time might be discussed just as how the quoted statement was conveyed (I am very interested in this subject, especially with existentialism). Lastly, whether it is a thin or thick book — I love them both, books are no lesser just because of the number of pages. 2. I believe that I’m the perfect date for this book since reading motivational books does not only allows me to be a creative learner but serves as a path to express my authentic self. I’m a bookworm and a writer (feature articles, poems, and short stories) in my younger years. The creative side of mine was my outlet for self-expression. However, now that I’m in college, I tend to conform more to the technicalities of life. If given the opportunity, I would love to experience again the book’s power of healing my inner soul by giving me various perspectives, precisely the bigger picture, in the realities of life. I think I would be the best date for this book cause I absolutely love Star Trek and Sci-fi! My family and I watch it every night and some days we watch Stargate and I binge watch Star Wars alone. Sci-fi and adventure are prominent in a lot of my favorites and I take care of my books very well! The talks of philosophy and morals in Star trek influence my thoughts and opinions greatly and I hold the series very close to my heart. I’d be really happy if I got this book! My mother would read it as well since she loves sci-fi and adventure so it’d be a great bonding experience for the two of us.
I think GB-19 would be a perfect date for me.
I grown up differently from my childhood habits. Before, everything has no reason to be finished. Its just that, I’m going to have fun then gain friends, then rest and sleep. But as I get older, there comes the hopes, wishes, goals, and dreams. I usually read books even its fully detailed. I realized how important the books are. I got motivated, inspired, and full of hopes as what books made me. Books help me very well. There’s many reason but can’t figure it out. I intend to commit my dream and have the ideas to pursue it by the help of some books. It will really help a lot. I deserve to have this book.

As a teen, I really need help and advices from elders especially from my parents because I’m starting to have lots of question about myself and everything. But also being a teen, its just a bit hard to talk with my parents because I felt like its awkward, dramatic, and nonsense. I felt like I can’t explain what I feel and they can’t understand what I’m trying to say. So that, I want to have ideas on how can I communicate with them wholeheartedly. And I think this book will help me.
I think, GB-06 would be the perfect date for me. I didn’t know a lot about the whole anime stories and Japanese series but I can tell that I’m a big fan of those series and movies because I’m always amazed of what I watched to it.
Being amazed into it made me curious about cultures and traditions in Japan. I also dreamed to go there in the future and so I think this book will be a very big help. (Hope to get some of these books)

I’m quite curious as to what kind of book starts with the letter p, but I will be very Pleased to have it. I want the GB-09 since I’m a guy who suffers anxiety disorder nowadays because of the pandemic. I read books to help me heal myself temporarily. But now, I can’t afford to buy therefore I’m reading it via phone. I download lots of free e-books to read. In this case, it helps me a lot but its kinda bad for my health. My eyes hurt sometimes therefore I have to stop for some time. I usually use anti-radiation glasses but it only last a few minutes longer than not havinf one. Than you for giving us kind of chance, it is a great experience and help to us, bookworms. Have a great day ahead.

I am into stories that makes me cry and give me a feeling of sadness and sympathy. I love tearjerking books because it gives us real-life lessons and scenarios that leaves us with what ifs. I love books that has a film adaptation because, it gives me some feelings that I didn’t feel while reading it. My imgination when reading is rich but, watching a film-adaptation makes it more richer. Moreover, the fact that GB-12 is a highest-grossing film makes me want it more. I am really excited to read it!
Hi! I am a college student and I am a bookworm. I love books about fantasy, romance and books about mental health for it makes me cry a lot because I can relate to it, and tearjerker books are just so hard to forget easily, because it lingers in your mind and in your heart for years lol, that is why I think I would really like this book because it is a tearjerker, and I love tearjerker books. GB-06 I love Japanese culture because there is something about there culture and history that amazed me and the rest of the world especially when it comes to Ninja’s Geisha Empires and the famous Anime’s that hit the heart of many young and young at heart. When it comes to food they really do amazing art on how they cook and present it. There is always an art we everything that Japanese culture have. Last the way they write poetry it’s amazed me more specially am a trying hard writer and poetry artist. And Japanese culture and history is something I really want to explore. I hope to win this book so that I could this with my daughter and tell her how amazing fascinating Japanese culture and history is. I think the perfect date for me is the GB-02 because I see myself reading it with a cup of coffee while sitting near our window. Reading a book about self-care and spiritual growth makes my heart pump more like I’m falling in love to it. Books are my lovers because I can see in imagination that it makes me smile and cry at the things that I don’t why I’m feeling like that. They’re also my bestfriend and companion, when I’m alone I just pick them up and I feel like I’m in another world. That the books and I are only there. In addition, this past few months I’m struggling a lot. The self-care and my spiritual growth has been set a side. I choose to cross paths with the GB-12. I wonder if this book is strong enough to make me cry. Ever since, I have been suppressing my feelings a lot. Being the eldest child, I am often seen as a sturdy wall of support to my parents, as well as my siblings. I had no time for dramas, I need to do my tasks. All of the comments about my serious face and attitude just got shrugged off for this is me, I was built like this. But to be honest, I missed being able to express myself, laughing out loud whenever someone spits a hilarious joke, or crying over a hopeless romantic couple. So, book GB-12, I challenge you to make me weep like a child deprived of love and attention.

I think this book is for me because my family and I love Star Trek and Sci-fi in general!! So this book would not only be read by me, but also by my mother and sister. I’ve wanted to join the military since I was a child but it always went against my pacifist nature. I was also a major fan of history and it was one of my best and favorite subjects in school! A book/series involving war and philosophy is something I would love to read! To learn various ethics while doing something I enjoy really is a blessing.

They often say that books are better than their on-screen adaptations and I’m inclined to agree! From the disappointments of Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson, I get quite excited finding out if/when a book gets an adaptation that way I can compare the two! Seeing as this became a major motion picture, I’m especially excited to read it!! Plus, a colorful cover?? I’ve always been a simp for rainbow cover. If this book really is a sequel, I’d be happy to get the first book as well and complete the series! I would be very happy if I got this book!

I believe that I am the perfect blind date for these books because not only do they bring me excitement but also because the way they have been described makes me think that they are very diverse. It feels like they can tour me around to what genre they might be and I quite am ready to expand beyond my comfort zone and be introduced to a whole new literary world to which I feel like that these books will give me. Furthermore, I have been caught in a writer’s block for the past several days, and by luck, my story has something to do with space; if it has anything to do with Star Trek, that will be a huge assist. And if it turns out to be the “lie”, then the more interesting it’ll be. I open my door to this “2 Truths and 1 Lie”.

It feels like they can tour me around to what genre they might be and I quite am ready to expand beyond my comfort zone and be introduced to a whole new literary world to which I feel like that these books will give me. Furthermore, I have been caught in a writer’s block for the past several days, and by luck, my story has something to do with space; if it has anything to do with Star Trek, that will be a huge assist. And if it turns out to be the “lie”, then the more interesting it’ll be. I open my door to this “2 Truths and 1 Lie”.
