What's a good read?
It is quite the Filipino tradition to exchange scary stories this time of year. Curious how our followers would understand the assignment, we asked them to submit a “scary story”. The rules were simple, the story must be within 150 words and scary. How they interpret “scary” was all up to them.
Among the eight qualified entries, we have chosen a winner.
Nikita Nouva Nebril is from Quezon City. Her story is about necrophilia.
“Here, I cooked this myself.”
I put the bowl of porridge in front of my lover sitting across me. We’ve been together for so long but he never really talked that much.
“It tastes good. Don’t you like it?” I annoyingly asked.
No answer.
Seconds went by. I lost my temper and stuffed a scoop of it to his mouth.
“Just eat it! I made it for you! Why don’t you like it?!” I shouted.
Still, not one word.
I heaved a frustrated sigh and sat down again.
“You just felt so cold, so I thought you’d like hot porridge”.
He just stared at me with dead eyes as I pushed the bowls away and took the spoon out his mouth.
“I’m sorry, don’t leave okay? I’ll take good care of you,” I blurted out, fixed his posture and wiped the porridge from his scarlet-stained shirt.
