Not all children grow up with nannies. In the Philippines, nannies, or yayas, are employed by families to take care of young children in the absence of or supplemental to parental supervision. The importance of yayas in Filipino families has long been dignified and revered.

They are highly respected and idolized by many Filipino children because they became their second parents. They take care of them and treat them like their own children. The love of the yaya for the child is unmatched. Nothing would make a Pinoy yaya happier than seeing the child happy, healthy, and clean.

The book aims to give dignity to the yayas out there who selflessly dedicate their lives caring for their alagas/other children, and also remind parents that yayas need some love and care as well.

The yaya is the embodiment of dedication, kindness, patience, perseverance, and unconditional love. A yaya is someone you can rely on when you need a nanny and as a friend and protector to your family.

Pinoy celebrity Isabelle Daza chose to honor her yaya uniquely. If you follow Daza on social media, she pays a touching tribute to her Yaya Luning by writing a children’s book. She narrates in an Instagram Story that she wrote the children’s book about her yaya as a gift for her.

Yayas have taken good care of countless Filipino children and families. Therefore, they deserve all the respect, love, and honor they can get. That is why it is nice to know that Isabelle Daza chose to make her yaya feel special by dedicating a whole book in her name.

Yaya Luning

Yaya Luning was Isabelle’s nanny growing up. When Isabelle was 8, she started seeing Luning. Luning became a part of the Daza Family and cared for Isabelle as her daughter.

When they finished high school, Isabelle Daza continued to visit Luning in her tiny house in San Juan, Metro Manila. She recalled how Luning decorates her home with pretty color pictures and flowers on holidays.

Isabelle Daza dedicated this book to her nanny on their anniversary. In her book “Yaya Luning,” Isabelle shares her own story of growing up with a yaya and describes the dynamics of having a yaya in a family.

She said that the book is a gift of love to her yaya, in which she hopes all children would know how important a yaya is.
