The second edition of the Philippines Book Festival (PBF) will grace the World Trade Center Manila halls from April 25 to 28. Like its inaugural edition, the festival will offer diverse books, workshops, exhibits, talks, and other engaging activities across its four distinct realms: Kid Lit, Komiks, Booktopia, and Aral Aklat.

This year’s festival is a testament to the NBDB’s commitment to fostering a culture of reading and nurturing the local publishing industry. According to NBDB Chairman Dante Francis “Klink” Ang II, the event serves as a dynamic platform that brings together key players in the book industry and showcases the creativity of Filipino talents.

With over 160 exhibitors and many programs, the Philippine Book Festival will have something for everyone. NBDB Executive Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade underscores the significance of such events in providing Filipinos with spaces for dialogue, creativity, and collaboration.

Literature enthusiasts can look forward to many exciting activities tailored to their interests. Highlights include book signing sessions with renowned authors such as Ambeth Ocampo and Gwy Saludes, as well as engaging talks and workshops on topics like comics, zine-making, and the life and works of National Artist Nick Joaquin.

Moreover, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the Rare Book Collection curated by the National Library of the Philippines, peruse the award-winning titles at the Book Bar, and marvel at the works of Filipino children’s book illustrators showcased in the Guhit Pambata exhibit. For those who love to cosplay, the festival will feature a special Cosplay Filipiniana segment celebrating characters from Filipino literature.

The festival’s four realms—Kid Lit, Komiks, Booktopia, and Aral Aklat—will offer attendees a curated selection of books and activities catered to their preferences. From the Creators Lab to the Main Stage and Kids-at-Play sections, there will be ample opportunities for learning, entertainment, and discovery.

Above all, the Philippine Book Festival aims to support the growth and development of the Philippine literary landscape. By enhancing access to literature, promoting local authors and publishers, and fostering a love for reading among Filipinos of all ages, the festival embodies the NBDB’s vision of a vibrant and thriving literary community.
